Iran: Admission of organized smuggling operation in Iran’s official Customs

At a news conference in Tehran, Arash Mohebbi-nejad, the secretary General of the 'Parts Industry' revealed of a $1.2 billion organized and official smuggling operation of Automobiles and auto-parts which has legal jurisdictions too. He said: a 4,500 billion tomans (with the current exchange rate would be about $1.5billion) debt of carmakers to auto-part makers has put a heavy pressure on to the auto-part industry. Many auto-part industries are losing money. Last year the increase in auto industry was the only thing that helped the auto-part industry to survive. 


Arash Mohebbi-nejad added that the illegal import of automobiles and auto-parts last year through official channels reached some $1.2 billion, $700 million for automobile and about half billion dollars for auto-parts. 
It was previously revealed that all auto imports, including both the automobiles and auto-parts have been monopolized by the Revolutionary Guards Corps, IRGC, which is done through the highest government official ratification.
