Iran: Political prisoner Narges Mohammadi's deteriorating health condition

Narges Mohammadi's eight year old twins were able to meet with their mother at Evin prison and are concerned about her health condition. Since last week, Narges Mohammadi has been repeatedly transferred to Evin prison clinic due to her deteriorating health condition. She has been transferred to the clinic for the sixth time last midnight as her health condition worsened.

The reason for Narges Mohammadi’s worsening health condition is that the prison officials prevent delivery of essential medicines which she has been using for nearly 6 years based on her doctor’s prescription. This is while she had taken all necessary medicines with her to Evin prison on the day of her arrest and detention but prison guards took away all medicines before sending her to the prison ward and denied delivery of medicines to her. In the past week, due to lack of medicine, she has repeatedly suffered hearth palpitation, increased blood pressure and general weakness, such that they had to take her to prison clinic. She announced that if the prison authorities do not deliver the necessary medicines to her, she would stage a hunger strike in protest.
Narges Mohammadi, human rights and women rights activist and a member of women citizen association, was arrested on May 5, 2015 in her home and transferred to Evin prison.
